What We Do
Foundation for a Slavery Free World is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by actress Marisol Nichols. Nichols created the foundation to lend a bigger voice to the issue of modern day slavery so that people realize that it is here, in their own backyards and become motivated to do something about it.
Human trafficking is modern day slavery. It is illegal trade of human beings, most commonly for the purposes of sexual slavery or forced labor. According to UNICEF, more than 1.2 million children are trafficked across international borders each year. More than 17,000 people are trafficked into the United States each year. Many are children. California is one of the top five US states with respect to human trafficking.
We partner with organizations that work closely with local law enforcement and government agencies that locate women and children that are being sexually exploited for profit and rescue them from their traffickers. We join forces with these organizations to combine our efforts to promote various human trafficking campaigns and to spread awareness and educate the public.
In addition to partnering with organizations, we produce educational events and briefings to specific audiences that can lend a unique voice to the fight. We invite organizations and law enforcement agencies to brief our audiences to educate them on what to look out for and how they can be proactive in stopping further abuse.
We produce the Human Rights Hero Awards. The red carpet event brings much needed awareness to this issue and shines a light on modern day slavery, particularly the commercial sexual exploitation of children on a global level - including the United States. Awardees are organizations and individuals doing selfless and heroic work in this field.
